This hub lists LEGO's Christmas countdown sets in the form of Countdown Candles and Advent Calendars, which are LEGO sets that are usually popular during Christmas holidays as they help us countdown the days to Christmas with delight. You keep track with this LEGO set which allows you to remove 1 layer every day for the countdown. Just like a traditional burning candle advent calendar but without the fire risk. Safe enough even for the children's room. Plus it can function as a Christmas ornament year after year. :)

LEGO Holiday Countdown Candle 852741 features a non-burning furniture-safe LEGO flame, 2 shiny gold colored bricks, and some nicely crafted leaves. It might be a bit pricey as it is only playable once a year but I guess it is alright as it contains some rare pieces, as well as 24 specially printed blocks, and a nice box that you can easily store the candle in after the Christmas season.

This is the LEGO City Advent Calendar for 2009 actually but a lot of people who saw this set around Christmas 2009 liked it so much that they are buying it for this year's Christmas.
Features the same concept of counting down to Christmas Day by opening a window every morning from Dec 1 - Dec 24.
Includes a snowman with a broom sticking through him for arms and hands, sled, minifigure with ice skates, Christmas tree, and a Santa next to a fireplace.

Even though Advent Calendars are seasonal items (-in fact it's a one off, you won't be too thrilled opening it again for next Christmas!), the minifigs, furniture and vehicles in these sets can be added to other LEGO sets for variety of play. The great thing about these sets are, even though the furniture and vehicles are mostly micro sized, LEGO always come up with interesting bricks so that it has a purpose well after Christmas! ;)
