While trying to write a hub to persuade people to switch to Ubuntu, my current passion at the moment, a light bulb mysteriously appeared and turned itself ON above my head. Ding! And I thought to myself - why give people 10 perfectly good technical reasons that Ubuntu Linux is better than Windows when people don't really make decisions with their head? You know what I'm saying?

So there you go. 10 very good reasons to ditch Windows now and switch to Ubuntu. :)
Hell, these reasons are not even new! Just that every now and then, people need to be reminded of the real reasons to switch over to the other side.

Instructions:

1. Ogle at whichever sexy or hot model wallpaper background that you like. Spend time contemplating on how much joy you will be getting from looking at her everyday in your future Ubuntu desktop. Meditate on this if you like.

2. Slowly, relax your body without your hands leaving the keyboard or the mouse. Breathe deeply!

3. Whether or not you install Ubuntu first, or save these wallpapers first, is not the question. The question is - can you afford to lose a good thing? So do the right thing now, follow the rest of the instructions below, and after that, head over to this article on How To Install Ubuntu On A Windows Partition Using WUBI done the painless way! It's just click-click-click! ;)

Right click on the thumbnail to get a better picture. If you like what you see, click on the picture to get an even bigger picture. Then right click and save to your computer. Done and repeat!

After setting these as your background wallpaper in Ubuntu, you'll never want to go back to Windows again, I promise you. ;)

Warning!:
Don't stare too long and try to keep both hands on the keyboard. ;P

10 Good Reasons: Ubuntu 10.10 vs Win7:

For those of you who REALLY want the beef, here is it in a concise, and time-saving explanation:

1 Ubuntu 10.10 is booting faster than ever
Further improvements to Ubuntu that was started since Ubuntu 10.04 Alpha, has shaved more seconds off Ubuntu's boot-up time.

2 Ubuntu Software Center
A central repository to easily find software; no need to go to Download.com or similar sites.

3 Ships with Mozilla Firefox, works out-of-the-box, and sans Internet Explorer
Start browsing with the best browser around, and no need to figure out how to get rid of Internet Explorer! ;)

4 Ships with OpenOffice, while Microsoft Office is a separate and costly purchase
LibreOffice, just recently created after OpenOffice's creators wanting out of Oracle, will probably be in an update later, or in Ubuntu 11.04.

5 Has Ubuntu One cloud storage out-of-the-box
With better integration, improved performance, and compatibility with Microsoft Windows, Apple's iPhone, and Google's Android.

6 Most of what Windows users have to pay for, you get for FREE, including the 10.10 CD (if you're a really cheap bastard! ;) )
The Ubuntu Free CD page is here: https://shipit.ubuntu.com/ (Ubuntu 10.10 subject to availability, as it is not released yet).

7 Less of a security and antivirus concern
While it may be true that Linux doesn't need Antiviruses, you will still need to have them if your Ubuntu Linux desktop or server folders are shared with Windows users. Otherwise, the benign virus you have just downloaded, will cause problems to your network as well as infect Windows shares.

8 Constantly updated by a hyperactive community of developers
2 major updates per year; so much better than a Service Pack every few years in the Windows world.
For those of you who are still new to Ubuntu; the 2 releases in a year are X.04 and X.10, the April and October releases respectively. For 2010, that would be 10.04 and 10.10, 2011 - 11.04 and 11.10, and so on and so forth.
